Threatening email sent to Islamic Center of Golden

GOLDEN, Colo. — The Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Golden Police Department are investigating a threatening email sent to a member of the Islamic Center of Golden.

A source, who did not want to be identified, gave what he said was a copy of the email.

In it, the man allegedly wrote he was considering “becoming a mass murderer.” He added, in part, “In my pockets I carry two extra magazines — even so I would run out of bullets before you ran out of Muslims.”

It was a member of the Islamic Center of Golden who reportedly received the email after inviting the man to come to the center to learn more about Islam.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is calling for police to step up patrols in the area.

“This man had detailed information about the inner workings of the center and that’s the most frightening part,” said Qusair Mohamedbhai, an attorney representing the Islamic Center of Golden.

Police said they have conducted an interview and are still investigating, along with the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
