GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (TCD) — A 61-year-old nurse allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted, and took inappropriate photos and videos of patients for at least 10 years, and a class-action lawsuit was recently filed.
According to the arrest affidavit from the Grand Junction Police Department, on July 9, officers responded to St. Mary’s Hospital to a report of potential misconduct. A witness reportedly saw Christopher Lambros, a registered nurse, take photos of a patient’s genitals.
Police said the witness told authorities she came into the room, the lights were off, and the curtain was drawn. When she pulled back the curtain, the witness reportedly saw the unconscious patient with her gown pulled up, exposing her breasts. The sheet was allegedly pulled down, exposing the patient’s genitals.
According to police, the witness said she saw Lambros with his head on the patient’s stomach, and he was holding a cellphone, taking a picture. Lambros reportedly dropped the phone and covered up the patient.
Police said they went to Lambros’ house and asked him about the allegations. He allegedly said that he was injecting the patient for blood clots in the stomach area and that is why the patient was uncovered. He reportedly denied that he took any photos of the patient.
Police said a search warrant was obtained for Lambros’ phone, and authorities eventually found “photographs and videos of Lambros posing with a number of victims who were unconscious, in the hospital setting.”
In the photos, police said Lambros was seen sucking on patients’ breasts and “digitally penetrating” victims.
Investigators allegedly found 700,000 photos and 65,000 hours of video from Lambros’ cellphone, KDVR-TV reports.
KDVR alleges that on June 24, 2022, Lambros whispered into the camera, “Don’t ever get rid of these videos,” and “You need to keep them forever. This is your Dexter collection.”
According to police, Lambros, who received his nursing license in Colorado on June 12, 2012, was initially charged with three counts of sexual assault.
On Tuesday, Dec. 20, a class-action lawsuit was reportedly filed by law firm Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC. The lawsuit alleges that the hospital knew or should have known about Lambros drugging, sexually assaulting, and taking lewd photos of patients, KDVR reports. The lawsuit also points out that there are surveillance cameras in each hospital room.
St. Mary’s Hospital told KDVR that Lambros was terminated from his position upon his arrest.
