Man accuses Federal Heights police of using excessive force in federal lawsuit

FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. — A man who accused Federal Heights police of using excessive force has filed a federal lawsuit against the department.

Police cameras recorded Cpl. Mark Magness dragging and kicking a man who was intoxicated in an incident that happened in December 2014. FOX31 Denver investigator Chris Halsne first reported on this case and the video in June. See his report here.

Magness was later convicted of reckless endangerment.

The man in the video filed suit in U.S. District Court alleging Magness has a history of excessive force incidents.

“There’s a universal sense of outrage whenever you see the video of what officer Magness did. No one deserves to go through what Mr. Lasnik did,” said his attorney Matthew Cron.
