Grand jury to review Aurora police officer killing unarmed suspect

A grand jury being convened to investigate the shooting death of Naeschylus Carter in March in Aurora. He was an unarmed suspect who was shot by police.

Regardless of the suspect’s violent history, the shooting upset some people in the community because he was not armed. His family’s attorney said he tried to surrender.

The Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office turned over the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office because of conflict of interest and it decided to present the case to the grand jury.
