Fort Collins police: Initial lawsuit probe led to 2nd investigation
City leaders Wednesday confirmed a second investigation is underway within Fort Collins Police Services.
The investigation is a result of findings from an original probe tied to a lawsuit alleging internal racial and ethnic discrimination.
While limited in how much they could divulge about the inquiry, Police Chief John Hutto and City Manager Darin Atteberry provided some clarity regarding the decision to place a sergeant and the assistant chief of police on paid administrative leave. Ultimately, as confusion abounds inside the department and out, they said they expected details to emerge in coming weeks that will benefit the department when the dust finally settles.
