Former Littleton School Bus Aide Pleads Guilty to Assault of At-Risk Students

DENVER (KDVR) — A former Littleton Public Schools bus aide pleaded guilty to several charges, including child abuse, after a video caught the paraprofessional punching and stomping on a non-verbal student.

On Monday, Kiarra Jones accepted a plea agreement charging her with 10 counts of third-degree assault of at risk individual and two child abuse charges. One charge was dismissed.

This comes after a video released in 2024 showed Jones physically abusing a student on a bus. She was shown punching and stomping a nonverbal student who went to the Joshua School, which serves students on the autism spectrum.

More charges were brought on after more families came forward about the abuse, and the law firm representing the three families, Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC, said the abuse went on for months.

The law firm said there were signs of abuse, with noticeable shifts in behavior, physical injuries, unexplained scratches, bruises, a lost tooth, a broken toe, a black eye and other deep bruises on their bodies and feet.

“Each one of us have kids that get scared every time they see a school bus driving by, that my son still walks with a limp from what she did to my kid, so this is going to be a lifelong process, and this is not just her, this process is not done,” said Kevin Yarbrough, a father of one of the student. “There was obviously a lot of failures and accountability, systemic failures, and we want more people to be held accountable for what happened here today.
