Former Littleton Bus Aide Seen On Video Hitting Nonverbal Student Pleads Guilty

LITTLETON, Colo. — A former Littleton bus aide pleaded guilty to child abuse charges Monday morning, nearly two years after she was seen in a video hitting a nonverbal student on a school bus.

Kiarra Jones, 29, pleaded guilty to 12 counts – 10 felony counts for abusing at-risk children and two misdemeanor counts of child abuse. One count of the 13 charges she was facing was dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Jones’ trial was originally expected to begin on Monday, however she instead changed her plea during a morning hearing.

She will be sentenced on March 18 at 2 p.m.

Two parents who had children on Jones’ bus, told 9NEWS last week they’ve been told the maximum sentence Jones could receive under the plea deal is seven years.

Jones was arrested in April 2024 after families demanded an investigation into why their non-verbal children were coming home with cuts and bruises. Eventually, Littleton Public Schools officials reviewed footage and saw Jones repeatedly hitting children. The family accused the school district of being slow to respond to their concerns and released the video to the media, which led to national stories about the abuse.
