Former Library Director Sues County Commission, Library Board
A little more than a week after a former library director’s lawsuit against a Gillette family got a judge’s OK to move forward, a second lawsuit has come out, this time against the Campbell County Commission and Campbell County Public Library Board.
Terri Lesley had filed a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Sept. 27, 2023, against the Campbell County Commission and the Campbell County Public Library Board, alleging her employers discriminated and retaliated against her because of her support of the LGBTQ+ community.
Because the charge of discrimination included allegations under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Lesley had to “administratively exhaust” her Title VII claims, meaning she had to file with a federal agency before she could go to court, said her attorney, Iris Halpern, Wednesday afternoon. In this case, that agency was the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
