Denver Police Department is changing its policy on shooting at cars
Following reviews sparked by the fatal shooting of teenager Jessica Hernandez, the Denver Police Department is changing its policy about shooting at suspects in moving vehicles. Denver Police Chief Robert White said while “officers were encouraged not to shoot into a moving vehicle,” now they are being “directed not to shoot at a moving vehicle.”
“They went from being encouraged to being directed,” White explained about the policy change. “We want the first reaction to be get out of the way, rather than to pull your firearm.”
