Former Llano County librarian settles wrongful termination lawsuit over book removal

A former Llano County librarian reached a settlement in her wrongful termination lawsuit stemming from a refusal to remove books with content related to race and LGBTQ+ experiences.

Suzette Baker’s attorney tells CBS Austin tonight the agreement is being finalized and is expected to be completed within the next 45 days.

She was the library director at the Kingsland Public Library and was fired in 2022.

Baker later filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claim as legal battles played out over the removal of certain titles.

The Llano County Commission also considered closing the county’s three libraries after a federal judge ruled the removal of the books was unconstitutional.
