Ian clerked in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, for the Honorable R. Austin Huffaker, Jr.; the Honorable W. Keith Watkins; and the Honorable Myron H. Thompson. Before joining RM, Ian clerked for the Honorable Gregory A. Phillips in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Ian graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was an articles editor for the Alabama Law Review, a member of the ABA National Moot Court team, and Winner of the 2L Moot Court Competition. As a student attorney with the Criminal Defense Clinic, he defended clients from misdemeanor prosecutions and sought post-conviction relief for incarcerated persons.
Before law school, Ian graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama, where he received degrees in English and Political Science. He also taught at the UA Writing Center and served as a Deputy Attorney General for the Student Government Association.
