About Leroy “Nicky” Taylor:
Leroy Taylor—known to his loved ones as “Nicky”—died in the general population of Denver’s downtown detention center after several Denver Health medical professionals ignored his obvious medical distress.
Mr. Taylor was a strong-willed, kind, and beloved father, brother, cousin, and friend who is missed dearly by his family and community. Mr. Taylor was extremely close to his family. He and his sister, the only two of their five siblings still alive at the time, lived together. Their home was a warm and welcoming environment where members of the family often visited for holidays, football games, dinners, and birthdays. Mr. Taylor was physically and mentally strong. At 71 years old, he was in excellent physical condition and still worked construction jobs that required him to be fit and active.
